Make sure you are in "list message view" so you can read all the posts. If you are in "thread message view" you will be missing posts whereas this setting only shows messages relating to that thread. This tab is beside your "next message " button. I say this because I feel that not all people are in "list message view" and are not getting the posts that are happening in between the main discussion.
