I don't think I could hold a candle to an actual geo, and all my textbooks and reference materials are still in boxes so all I have is an over-active imagination and questionable grasp of the area geology.....BUT....
it does sound as if, based on their wording, that there were separate and distinct events that are key to understanding the gold emplacement at the BGGC.
"It is apparent that the stripped area now encompasses the contact zone between the Elmhirst intrusion ( one geological event) and the surrounding volcanics."( second geological event).
So, what we need to decipher is if the intrusion was in the manner of a batholith, or ophiolite, or forces of subduction etc and why that would be important in an area of active volcanics. Maybe that explains the linear nature of Kodiak's veining as opposed to Sage's mesh-like arrangement? Imagine it's like a big turkey baster, Kodiak is the nozzle and Sage is the squeeze-bulb...LOL!!! ( and the intrusion was the catalyst for expelling the "gravy".
Anyways, we await longbomb's input I'm sure...
