I own both Sage and Kodiak

and I've been up front about that from the beginning. Only difference, I'm not in Sage from a "trading the area play" perspective. And that's fine for those that are, it doesn't make one of us superior to the other. It just is a distinction that needs to be made, as our priorities and outlook will be much different.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that Sage is "riding the coat-tails" of Kodiak per se: yes, it's true that they are inextricably linked by the geology, and Kodiak is the bigger player who initiated all the action to begin with, and continues to be a driving force. Kodiak has, what? In excess of 1400 sq. km now of claims? Who is in second place? Longbomb would know without a doubt, but I would hazard a guess that with recent acquisitions, Sage probably has 2nd place.
Sage has been actively stripping, trenching, prospecting, drilling, acquiring claims.Historically, in a situation like this, a lot of dodgy area plays would position themselves strategically and wait for the big players to drive the price up while they themselves do nothing.
I don't see that happening here. I see a team of people with cash in hand, qualified geologists, and assets ready to be unearthed, and a larger associate company looking on ( YRI ). I'm confident Sage wants to make a name for themselves as well, and seeing the lack of NR's lately, no one can accuse them of being a pump and dump. Show me the pump...ha ha! There is none!
At any rate, you won't find me disagreeing that Sage's SP movement is tied to Kodiak's: I just find there is a bit of attitude towards Sage that they don't have what it takes compared to Kodiak. I think Sage is just a scaled-down version, myself, and may achieve the same things on that relative scale. But there may be surprises along the way...
But, that's just my opinion and until the market says different, it remains just that, an opinion, not a fact.
