This was the first mention of "surprise" gold. Note: this drilling was done a long way away from the golden mile extension... so SGX may be sitting on a lot of parallel veins too...

Taken from July 24th news release

Hole -7 - was drilled as a vertical hole in the down dip section of the zone but did not intersect the mineralized gabbro as the hole deviated from the intended target. However, this hole intersected a pyritized carbonate rich section of chloritic tuff that yielded

15.15 grams of gold (Au)/ per tonne over 0.73 metres. This gold bearing horizon represents a new zone of mineralization that is not related to the Ni-Cu mineralization within the gabbro.Nigel Lees -President- stated; “

These drilling results are exciting. We have identified several high grade sections which occur within very broad sections of mineralization and hence would represent excellent mining widths. The mineralized zone which starts at the surface can be traced down dip for 580 metres. It is open laterally and at depth. Sage is constantly improving its understanding of the geology of the deposit to help better delineate the mineralized zone. To find a high grade gold-rich zone in the adjacent host volcanics proved a pleasant surprise which will be followed up in the next drilling program.
