SM,
Very nice piece of comprehensive reporting. Frank seems to have a knack of putting various pieces together. So, we now have in this integrated scheme:
- (Not really new) BH underground mine sharing the shaft with NOT. This also make NOT plan look better (to justify the high Capex, since KWG is propssing to pay toll for the use of the shaft, especially when Ni has been mined out after 11-15 years. By that time, or even way earlier, NOT would want to develop BB chromite as well?
- (Kindda old) slurry pipe to take the stuff to the south (NOT can certainly use this for a fee, or NOT and KWG could have some kind of a swap or JV: use of NOT Eagle shaft for use of KWG slurry pipe, gas-powered electricity plant, and the Gas Super Converter).
- (New) natural gas line to go north in parallel with the slurry pipe to power two electric generation plants, one for the ore grinding and mixing at the RoF and another one for pmuping stations near Marten Falls.
- (New) extension of the ONR connecting Hearst to Nakina to take the product from the Gas Super Converter (Frank calls that "Gas fired direct reduction process plant") to Sorel Quebec, by existing rail, to make stainless steel pellets for exports. (Hydo) electricity is cheap there, and KWG still has its HQs there ... Any incentives from the Quebec gov?
- (discussed before) Alternate EW road from Pickle Lake to nearby 5 FN communities including Marten Falls (the northern portion of this could be aligned with the ice road being proposed by Marten Falls FN. This road is required to get construction material and equipment to the RoF. (My guess: Presumably, this could be used initially as an ice roads and upgraded to a year round road later).
Ducks lining up in a row. All we need now is political will to signal that development of the RoF is a good thing. Money is no big deal.
Also, co-operation between NOT and KWG would be a good thing for both. One thing which would help: NOT should drop the appeal on the Koper Lake claims (awarded to KWG) so that time, energy and $ should not be spent on this kind stuff).
