Interesting perspective indeed. Baosteel and other Chines companies have long-range plans and they are looking at the integrated and big picture.
Energy storage is one hot thing for green energy such as solar and wind and even for storage energy when the demand is low/price is cheap at night and resale when people really need power and would pay premium for it. This is just like pumping the water back up to the reservoir at night and release it back through the hydro turbine during the day and make billions, yes billions a year. For our northern communities one good way is to install wind turbines and solar panels along "the corridor" along with these energy storage units for storing excess power for later use when you need it. Actually, these green energy "packages" e.g. wind turbines and energy storages could be located at any isolated communities.
Anyway, back to Baosteel. If the Chinese can do it using our vanadium, why can't we, the Canadians, do that as well. Perhaps, we can use some of our vanadium to make value-added products which would help our northern communities and reduce the electricity rates (by energy shifting) for companies located in the RoF. Our Ontario Premier seems to be very keen in green energy, especially wind power, why not go all the way to encourage development and installation of energy storage devices (creating jobs and collecting taxes).
I am trying to make the connection to Black Creek. Does BC have vanadium as well?
