Happy St. Patricks Day
Woke up this morning to find the Dow Jones Industrials nearly unchanged and gold at $1010.00 following the overnight news of almost total collapse of Bear Stearns.
Then I thought, that's funny. Then I thought again, the Fed has the ability to make as much money out of thin air as it wants. So, all that money holding up the stockmarket today and subscribing to create sell orders for gold on new highs was printed up over the weekend while some of us down south started post winter clean-up and were driving the garden tractors around through 10 inch wild growth in the orchard. Then I thought of all those dirty little tricks that the hedge funds were allowed to carry on by basically, printing their own shares to sell into the market depressing and ruining share values and hurting the little guy.
I remember hearing recently that the banks make most of their gravy by squeezing the little guy with their jacked up interest rates created on whim and charging the poor guys with all types of fees when their money supply ran low and thus their payments dribbled in late which resulted in extra fees charged being assessed against them.
Then I recalled recently reading an article at http://www.321gold.com by Craig Harris, March 14, 2008, entitled "Just The End of Your Way of Life?" In one early paragraph of the article Mr. Harris writes:
"The US is currently in what I like to call a period of "decay." It is in a period of decay in every possible way. If you live in the real world like I do, it is evident. If you consume a diet of the corporate media cheerleading squad, then you don't live in the real world and it could be difficult for us to communicate during the rest of this essay. We've got people charged with cleaning up the corrupt broken system going out with with an $80,000 hooker bill and being replaced by a blind man(not too polite). The current El Presidente is a wind-up doll for a bunch that should all be in orange jumpsuits. It would be comical if it weren't so sad to watch it all go down. It is a modern day tradegy being played out in real time in the context of a giant government/corporate media theatre production."
The middle class will be destroyed, no question about that. Our materialistic hope for the future should be to hunker down in the drenches along with hard assets like gold and other precious items along with hitching a ride with leaders, like Dr. Palmer in quest of those riches just to stay even as hyperinflation, compliments of the Fed, eats you and your family alive.
