Muscat – Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and chairman of the Civil Service Council, on Sunday issued a decision declaring the official working hours at ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state’s administrative apparatus during the Holy Month of Ramadan for the year will be from 9 am to 2 pm. The working hours at the private sector companies and establishments for Muslims during the Holy Month of Ramadan will be reduced to six hours per day and 30 hours per week, according to a ministerial decision issued on Sunday by Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower.
The Main Committee of Moon Sighting at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs last week had announced that Saturday June 28, will be the 30th day of the month of Shaaban 1435 and Sunday June 29 is the first day of Ramadhan 1435. A statement from the committee said that this comes as demonstrated by astronomy which confirms the disappearance of the Hilal of the holy month of Ramadhan on the 29th of Shaban in 1435 before sunset in most governorates of the Sultanate and at the same time of sunset in others, so it can’t be seen that day. – ON
