Dubai is the most populous and second largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is located in the Middle East, bordering the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, between Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The UAE was formed 1971 when the Trucial States of the Persian Gulf coast (previously under control of the United Kingdom) merged.
