"... news usually comes out on friday or Monday..."

Close.  Bad news is seen most often on a Friday, usually late in the day.  This is done as fewer eyes are watching (same for weekends), causing the immediate impact to be less severe.  Good news seems to come about any other time, most often before the market opens any other four days in a trading week.  Holidays here and in Canada can affect that though. 

For a company to ask for a halt in trading pending news costs money, so I would not expect that in this case.
