I would think the wars have had a lot to do with that as well. Not only Iraq and Afghanistan but conflicts around the globe. Wars consume alot of brass which, by my understanding, a typical casing is aboout 70% copper. Then factor in wiring for vehicles, aircraft, etc. plus rebuilding war torn countries. Hopefully things will settle down enough in the middle east and south west asia for reconstruction to begin. Theres so many factors: technology, developed nations expanding, reconstruction in war torn areas, development of 3rd world countries. Personally, my opinion, I think copper will be more influential and important over the next 100 years, atleast, until, or unless, a better material is created or discovered
