This has been going on somewhat intermittetly for a few months now.  I've called it "judicious buying" in that someone is trying to walk down the price with large bids.  It means someone wants a lot of shares, but they also feel they have plenty of time to grab what they what without competing against themselves and driving up the price at the same time.

Could this person know the future?  Maybe, but it also suggests this person does not care when "the" news will come, they are just taking advantate of current circumstances, IMO.
