An interesting/balanced story about uranium mining in Northern Arizona appeared today in the Arizona Republic.

I once knew Nyal Niemuth, mentioned in the story, when his state office was in Phoenix (it was moved to Tucson). He helped me with some historical research I was involved with at the time. When I first entered his outer office I spotted a familiar illustration on a wall. It was an enlarged version of the graphic LBSR created at the time they acquired the North Pipes Super Project. It was to illustrate the nature of a brecciated pipe. He seemed pretty excited about the prospects there, but that was/is in the nature of his work, and no one at the time could have foreseen that the price of uranium would have collapsed as it did.
Anyway, the story suggests to me that under the Trump administration, uranium mining on the Colorado Plateau will once again become the focus of miners and anti-miners. ...and the price of uranium seems in recovery now, up I think 6 dollars per pound in the last few months.
