I've been writing here a few times about a pending shortage is zinc. While all base metals were up today, as were precious metals, zinc was up 10.3 percent. I can't recall having see a 1-day move that large. Lead, too, made a large move, 6.3 percent. That both would make big moves at the same time is not unusual in itself as they often occur in the same mineral deposits.

As a "for what it's worth, copper today was up 2.8 percent.

News from various other sources this evening is predicting an up week for metals next week too. We shall see.
