I've been reading this for years too. Silver and a few other metals have the same properties in being anti microbial. Copper is cheaper.
As more and more drug resistant pathogens come on the scene, the more health professionals will have to seek alternative practices and finishes for workplace environments.
BTW, a friend is fighting Mersa as a consequence of a prodedure to remove a minor skin cancer growth on his fore arm. I've had other friends become infected too in recent years, so this is a growing problem in itself (without getting into other drug resistent microbes).
