Yes, precious metals prices move higher during the course of the day. Moreover, share prices for miners and exploration miners accelerated right through the closing bell. Base metals, however, were mixed (save the news on uranium prices).
^XAU, an index representing precious and base metals miners, closed up 7.42 percent, an abnormally high move. LBSR was up 14 percent, but as I keep saying, price changes at these volume levels are pretty much meaningless (though I certainly prefer up from down).
I sense something has changed in the markets, but I can't quite put my finger on it at the moment.
