The connection here isn't just the mention of REEs, but fact of radon gas being an indication for the presence of uranium and/or monazite. I'm recalling here the recent news about radon being found in the Copper Queen "ghost" mine at nearby Bisbee.
...just wondering about the possiblity of having thorium in the potential mix of REEs at Hay Mountain. Pretty remote, I would guess, but still something to keep in the back of one's mind.

By the way, the USGS lists New Mexico as highly prospective for new uranium finds of commercial potential. While Arizona in general ranks next down the list, I'm thinking the old studies are quite out of date, and don't refect the new findings of REEs potential in SE Arizona (next door to New Mexico).
