As I recall the drainage patterns and transferred claim blocks, the new acquistioins don't really help Pebble, for they still drain "directly" south to Lake I. The other advantage of current BC claims is that they are less wet. So, drainage away from Lake I and less wet make them better suited for mine waste whether for Pebble or BC.

The BC claims north of Pebble, drain NE/East to Lake Clark and then into Lake I, as I recall. Not only adding many miles of buffer, but also there is no salmon spawning in this area as shown in the EPA's own document. It's too far "inward" because of the additional drainage miles to support the spawning of Pacific salmon.
