Channel Sample Results Returning Up to 146.19 g/t Au. (Average 22.75 g/t Au) and Drill Results Up to 19.64 g/t Au
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Feb. 21, 2008) - Garrison International Ltd. ("Garrison")(TSX VENTURE:GAU) is pleased to announce the results of a vertical channel sampling program ("Channel Sampling Program") conducted at its Tovshiir project site in Suhkbaatar District, Mongolia ("Tovshiir"). This site is held through a joint venture between Asia Intercept Mongolia LLC and Garrison, pursuant to which Garrison has an option to acquire a 75% interest in Tovshiir.
The Tovshiir project is situated in the basin and range grabens on the eastern flank of the Mongolian craton and is dominated by thrust blocks of Paleozoic aged intrusions and volcanics. The Tovshiir mineralization is focused around a major North East trending thrust fault denoted by a contact between younger diorite bodies and the more extensive granitic host rock. Leakage of mineralizing fluids along this thrust has formed sills of quartz mineralization away form the thrust fault into the host diorite and granites. Mapping suggests the sills of quartz form a stacked sequence away from this fault.
A total of 361 vertical channel samples were collected from 18 new trenches on the Tovshiir property. The results of 63 of these vertical channel samples were presented in Garrison's press release of February 6, 2008, and these samples are presented again for convenience. Channel samples were collected from a channel size of 5 x 5 cm over the designated sampling interval utilizing an electric hammer tool collecting between 1.5-3.0 kg of sample. A photo of each channel sample was recorded as well as a differential GPS position. The trenching program was designed to test the top three metres of a flat lying mineralized quartz zone. Samples were collected on an approximate 5 x 10 m grid pattern over an area of 800 x 2200 m in trenches cut across the strike of the zone. The sampling was designed in infill between the 73 diamond drill holes that were drilled on the property in a 50 x 50 grid pattern over the mineralized zones. Full results of the 73 diamond drill hole program were released by Garrison in a press release dated February 6, 2008.
In addition to the channel sampling program, a total of 73 additional grab samples were collected from outcrops in this mineralized zone by randomly chipping the exposed rock over a 3-5 m interval. These samples are identified by "RC" in the sample interval columns of the tables included in this press release.
The sample results shown below are grouped in their zones of occurrence, which zones are referred to as (1) the Chinese Pit Zone, (2) the Ninja Zone, (3) the Twin Zone, and (4) the Back Hill Zone.
A screen fired analytical technique was used to detect coarse gold in the samples collected, with the entire screened samples undergoing analysis using the fire assay technique to determine gold quantities.
Since Garrison's Tovshiir project has locally recorded significant coarse gold in prior sampling, the protocol followed by Garrison requires all samples with preliminary results above 0.1 g/t gold to be re-assayed using the fire screen analytical technique. All vertical channel samples were evaluated by Actlabs Asia LLC, which is based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Actlabs is an accredited and independent laboratory facility and is part of the Activation Laboratories Ltd. group of companies which operates laboratories in Canada and Asia, among other locations.
These results are encouraging and will be used to identify the locations of potential mineralization that management will investigate by undertaking further work. The samples have been collected over 4 zones along a 2 kilometre zone of shear hosted mineralization. To date, the depth extensions of these zones have not been investigated. A map identifying the location of the zones from which samples were collected in relation to the Tovshiir project accompanies this press release as Schedule A.
Visible gold was observed in drill hole #7, as described in the Garrison press release of February 6, 2008, and in many of the surface rock chip samples collected in the Channel Sampling Program. It was also recorded and photographed in in situ outcrops and field samples. These results likely suggest a supergene effect. Although grade was recorded in primary sulphide bearing quartz zones, the bulk of Garrison's work was to determine the supergene gold extent. Garrison continues to analyze the vertical channel sampling results, including comparisons to its 2007 drill results with a view to assessing the potential of developing cash flow from its Tovshiir project. All samples reported in this press release were collected and assayed using a strict sample protocol and supervised by geologist Tony Bainbridge, AusIMM, a "qualified person" under National Instrument 43-101, who has also reviewed and approved all scientific and technical disclosure contained in this press release.
