The multi billion dollar oil and gas exploration in Namibia by EnerGulf Resources Incorporated could soon be a reality as drilling on Block 1711 offshore might commence during next month.
Project operator Sintezneftegaz contracted the drill ship DeepVenture on behalf of itself and the other co-venturers on Block 1711.

The co-venturers are EnerGulf, PetroSA and NAMCOR. The DeepVenture is currently drilling for ExxonMobil offshore Angola. Chairman of EnerGulf Resources’ board, Jeff Greenblum, announced in a statement on Tuesday this week that latest reports provided by Sintezneftegaz estimate the release date of the rig from ExxonMobil to be in early March 2008.

Block 1711 is situated in the Namibe basin off the northern coast of Namibia along the international boundary with Angola.
The two separate exploration prospects, Kunene and Hartmann, have been identified by extensive modern seismic data on the 893,100 hectares block. Esso, a division of ExxonMobil, and Larsen Oil and Gas Limited (Larsen), which is the contractor of the vessel and will use the drill ship, Deep Venture, to drill the Kunene.
The drilling time is estimated to be approximately 50 to 60 days. EnerGulf Resources is a publicly traded international oil and gas exploration company.
