Check out this link. Note that added to the normal $7 fee, is an additional commission of 1/2 of 1% of the principal value of any transaction on a stock with a price less than $1.
Ergo, if you sell EDIG for less than a buck (which I am want do in a heartbeat) and your take home is 100K, you pay an extra 500 bucks.... A half a Mil and you fork over 2500 bucks more. Why? Does it cost them more to trade a penny stock than a blue chip? I...don't... think...so.
I think they think anyone who's stupid enough to buy a penny stock, is stupid enough to pay the excess commission. :>):>)
