In the last month or so, I have been communicating with a HS friend, class of 1966, getting the names of our young guys lost in Viet Nam from the classes of 64, 65 & 66. I remembered a few but not all. I then contacted the all voluteer organization re: The Viet Nam Wall in DC. They have a link to look up the names, dates, home town etc. I looked up all of them from this: http://www.virtualwall.org/

At our 1991 reunion, the committee put together a DVD with 60's music and it was loaded with pictures, including people we lost while still in HS from car accidents, other accidents, and self inflicted same...it was sad. I noticed 2 names/pictures were not in the piece who joined the Marines, Greg Marlar & Clifford Boggs, both who died in Viet Nam...I was pizzed they had been forgotten! These 2 guys were thought of as Geeks/Dorks...nobody wanted them on our team in PE..they were always the last picked. These guys were the most unlikely candidates to make it thru boot camp at Pendleton in Oceanside, CA.

I got up from my table, hailed the MC (Terry Powers) and yelled across the room to him on stage after the flick. "Hey Terry, Greg Marlar & Clifford Boggs died in Viet Nam and were left off the presentation." He called for a minute of silence in their honor....

During my research, Clifford's name was not on the wall. I then contacted the organization asking why, and the gal told me it was a Military/Fed Gov't "law something" that to be on the wall one had to die "in theatre" and Clifford did not, but died of other causes in Viet Nam. Just another failure of our leaders.....

I'll never shake that stupid "conflict" out of my head....
