have any idea why there's such a move to buy US securities?

My hunch....many are leaving the 1000's GSE's, Government Sponsored Enterprises, having an implied security of the US government. Many of which are involved with Wall St.....in favor of pure US instruments where that is not necessarily a dollar issue. GSE's, are for the most part, private corporations that can/will go through the bankruptcy process if needed and the government does not have to do a thing.

Pure US instruments get priority over the implied backing of GSE's

How much of that 14.5 trillion of indebtedness...are details of GSE's?
