I'm glad you enjoyed it. I never tire of listening to it. I always thought it would be the perfect background music for the visable presentation of the aurora borealis.
Yep, Wagner was an anti-Semite and that's the truth (and you can believe that 'cause my name is "Pravda"). Another truth is that he was a supreme composer. Many of those, supposedly in the "know", say this Prelude to Tristan and Isolde is the most erotic piece of music ever written? :>) I don't know about that. If I were 50 years younger, I might agree. :>):>) The genius and passion are undeniable, however.
Here's something that might interest you. In playing music for more than a half century, I did a considerable number of Jewish weddings. Quite often the band was asked to refrain from playing Wagner's wedding march (you know....."here comes the bride"), opting for Mendelssonn's, instead, for both the processional and the recession. The typical wedding uses Wager's for the processional and Mendelssonn's for the recession.
And that's the end of that story.
