Yeah. I never met him, per se, but I worked in a group that backed him up during a Democratic fund raiser. Ironically, it's the only job I ever got stiffed for. Not by him....the fund committee.

I don't know what his political affiliation was in later life. The time I'm referring to was at least 40 years ago.
