Thanks. I didn't take it that way....but with the emotions and short fuses on this board, you never know whose feelings you are going to hurt.

You likely have post-traumatic arthritis of the thumb CMC or basal joint. Difficult problem. Implants are made, but the indications are narrow. I most commonly do a resection arthroplasty with temporary (5 weeks) pinning. Sometimes a specialized splint made for that joint worn at night can do a lot of good for the day time pain.
