I disovered a dove egg two days ago, which I seem to get every year. The dove left and I spent a half hour chasing away a blue jay..dove came back and has been stationary for two days..Tonight, dove tried to fly away and could not get out of my ``attrium``, and fell to the ground. I went over and actually picked her up and she flew out of my hands into some bushes. I went over and picked her up again!!! out of the bushes.;.unheard of! I petted her like a little puppy and gently placed her back into the nest on top of the egg! Seriously, this was a fantastic experience! I am now a bit concerned because, as I called my mother to relate the experience, I saw the dove fly away! Hope she comes back, or I am gonna have to rig up a heating blacket or something. I have always heard not to touch nests but never have heard of an experience like I had. Hope she comes back. If it works out well, I am going to call the baby Diggy!!! I have done more than my share, hope it works out!! True and very exciting experience!!
