I respectfully disagree. Litigation could take a long time, but out-of-court settlements (like PTSC got) can happen pretty fast.
Another thought here.... Big companies usually have an internal staff of patent attorneys. They spend a lot of time just doing patent searches to see where the threats are (forewarned is forearmed). Recognizing this, and ASSUMING there are infringers out there, they already know. When we or our reps (a la TPL) bring it to their attention, it`s not like they have to go do a bunch of research - there`s already a file on it. Things COULD happen fast, or slow. How long did it take PTSC? Mere months.
All pure speculation though....
