Believe it or not, this device may be (probably is?) based on old technology developed by PTSC (think Norris and acoutics - he invented the sonogram, the original source of his wealth). What originally intrigued me most about PTSC (back in `96, which led me to EDIG) was their Ground Penetrating RADAR. In a test it could sense and depict a Pepsi can buried 5 feet in the ground - through a one inch steel barrier. Quite impressive, and could even sense plastic land mines.
I was working at Hughes Aircraft at the time, and aware of the Land Warrior program, and saw this as a logical add-on. But, alas, PTSC sold off this segment of the business (even after having been awarded a couple of small development contracts that never went on to production).
Norris History 101, FWIW.
Still holding and waiting....
And these things I KNOW!
