We finally got the story on much of the hot items we saw at the CES in Las Vegas. IFExpress was there and we were looking for technology that has IFE potential. As important as the trend toward portable communication and entertainment is the convergence of video and computer technologies. However, wireless connectivity solutions abound at this show and it looks like your future passengers will have multiple avenues of communication and entertainment receivers. Future SmartPhones and PVPs will be in everyones pocket and companies that plan to bring connectivity or programming to the plane better get on top of this one. Times are changing and portable electronics will contain more functionality, be more pervasive, and electronics will play a bigger part in all our lives. Passengers will want choice and be able to select communication options based on price. If airlines wont provide the solutions they want, r they will take their own solutions and use them on the plane. The IPOD revolution is in full swing and satellite radio is booming, while portable, Wi-Fi enabled Skype-based telephony is coming without computers. Will it work on your flying Internets? Another question that has to be answered is Got Power Looks like in-seat power is the only common denominator for all this mobile hardware and we predict that the power suppliers will have a banner year in 2006.
