They are not "issued" and are not formal patents until they are published in the gazette...that is also when they receive their official patent no...then the "certificate of issue" with the new patent no is mailed to owner

You also cannot sue on infringement until the "issue" publication....however, once it is "issued"...you can then go back 6 years on your claims...so in plank's opinion..just wanted all to know that in his lowly opinion...no infringement claims have been "lost"....lots to come....
