If it were to happen ( or if it is in the process of happening? ) and because it was 3 years ago it could indeed mean that this deal of the past is not real now.
But what could be real currently is that because of two factors (one, inflation ( in the area of science/tech, and two, the competition for the race to gain a dominate foothold in the Internet of Things) the price of the deal could be way more!! IMO.
