Elong dug up the following from the last financials.
``We have added engineering resources in India to
support increasing ODM/OEM business for the customization of branded products based on our MicroOS(TM)-powered technology platforms. The majority of the ODMs/OEMs we are working with plan to manufacture e.Digital-powered devices for their own customers who will in turn brand and market these products in locations throughout the world.``
It`s revealing to note that this work would have passed us by if it wasn`t complete by the end of the year.....or just in time for the CES.
On a more speculative note: The reference to at least half a dozen manufacturers unveiling their own branded versions of the portable media player seems to make a direct reference to our Digeplayer design. It also would corroborate Putnams remark.
``If you fly by Alaskan Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines or RyanAir today you will be able to enjoy one of the most advanced digital media players in the world, to hear music or view movies. Next week in Las Vegas (United States), at an international Consumer Electronics Show, at least half dozen manufacturers will unveil their own branded versions of the portable media player - which for the first time, will not only play audio and video but also will allow users to record and store up to 50 full length movies - that will cost around $ 300 a piece. ``
Lastly I believe this whole portable media player concept ties into the Kiosk business plan. In order for that concept to actually work there will need to be 10`s of thousands if not 100`s of thousands of players in the marketplace along with 100`s if not thousands of Kiosks. Putnam mentioned to a friend in conversation a couple of weeks ago that the player would wind up costing around $300.00. Take note of the number mentioned in that article.....Same #. I`m not making this stuff up guys. To my way of thinking this has the feel of a massive new marketing initative with some major bucks and Hollywood interests behind it. If these six OEM`s are all involved in the same iniative then rstring quoting Putnam may indeed be right. ``Katie bar the door.``
Happy New Year!
