Yeah, but as I recall the statement, it didn`t state no FAA approval by then, just no wide deployment till then (corrections welcome). This, if my recollection is correct, leaves room for possibility (wide deployment, involving taking planes out of service, would take months; and that 777 is possibly a newly delivered ship, in which installation could have been enabled pre-delivery).
