``Too little too late``

Someone (with all the apparent new alias` floating, who KNOWs who) suggested this earlier, obviously IMO someone with little real grasp of what EDIG had (has?). IMHO, the situation some five years ago was exactly the opposite - EDIG had too much too soon. IF (big IF - foregone) the SDMI had done what it proclaimed that it was formed to do, and the studios had opted to take the proactive path rather than focus on suing 12-year-olds, things MAY have been very different. First with handheld WMA support and seemless transition to MP-3, multi-CODEC/DRM/watermarking support capability, etc. The technology was ready, the marketplace wasn`t. Time passed and workarounds developed. This is the history ignored, granted revisiting it is about as useful/useless as rehashing all other things EDIG-past (positive or negative, though IMO the past positives deserve a little more attention. A lot of ``firsts`` in there.).

Choose your history with care.... BTW, has anyone truly matched the digE in all revelant respects? (including cost - from EDIG, not from Wencor)? Does anyone already have EVERYTHING that the proposed Mede is expected to have? If so, at what price? (because, if you throw enough money at anything, you can make one better - 20 years areospace experience speaking here). Just some ``offsetting`` thoughts for consideration....

To steal a comment from ``Know less than nuttin``` JHawk: EDIG needs to sell something. That something has to be a thing worthy of interest. Will the Mede be worthy? Will we again be too early with too much? Will Will find the willing? These are the questions of the day...and are unfortunately not given much consideration here.

Just had to poke my head out from under the rock....

And I KNOW nuttin` but my own attitudes and opinions.
