I may be wrong -- would not be the first time today -- but you are probably thinking about the kino player. I played with it briefly and it was fairly slick. It had the 3`` screen (2,5``?)

The MED (Mobile Entertainment Device) was only discussed in the formal ASM presentations with the features listed via power point. As far as I know it was still in development at that time.
