In our new series, “GoPro on the Go,” we’ll be showcasing photography from the GoPro HERO 3+, capturing extraordinary views of everyday life. In each installment, we’ll feature the GoPro photography of a different GoPro user with a unique passion and point of view. This week, pilot Tiffany Brown is taking us above the cloud line of Kansas and Missouri with the GoPro HERO 3+, on loan from Verizon Wireless. Brown began her life of adventure as a licensed pilot after her professional skydiver father gave her a love of taking flight, and she’s currently training for a commercial pilot’s license.

Where will you go with the GoPro? Check back for more stories and photos as we “Get Going with GoPro!”

The new GoPro HERO3 camera is available in two models - the HERO3: Silver Edition and the HERO3: Black Edition. The HERO3: Silver Edition is a Wi-Fi enabled action camera with an 11-megapixel image sensor and a wide angle aspherical lens. Like its predecessor, the HD HERO2, it also comes with a waterproof housing that can protect the camera to a depth rating of 197’ (60 m). It also captures up to Full HD 1920 x 1080p video at 30 fps, and supports several other recording resolutions and frame rates.

The HERO3: Silver Edition is compatible with the LCD Touch BacPac, the Battery BacPac and the Wi-Fi Remote. It has a micro HDMI output, a microphone/composite video port, and a microSD card slot that supports up to 64GB cards. The camera also features video looping, Protune capabilities, manual white balance, burst shooting at 10 fps and time-lapse recording. The built-in Wi-Fi enables remote control via the Wi-Fi Remote (sold separately). It also supports live video preview and remote control from your smartphone or tablet with the free GoPro app. Besides the waterproof housing, the HERO3: Silver Edition ships with two adhesive mounts, a three-way pivot arm, two buckles, assorted mounting hardware and a USB charging cable.

  • Brown captured stunning shots of the Kansas landscape, with the sun peeking in through the window.
  • Features on the GoPro, such as the wide-angle lens and video capability, allow Brown to record her flights and analyze them afterwards. She not only critiques her takeoffs and landings, but is also able to experience the beauty of each flight all over again. The high-quality shots are also easy to share — the GoPro is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing Brown to share her footage almost immediately.
  • Brown can easily mount the GoPro on her dash to capture photos and videos hands-free while she shares the beauty and excitement of flight with friends and family in a single-engine Cessna.
  • Brown recently flew to St. Louis for the day, and took her GoPro along for the ride. She frequently takes cross-country trips in preparation for the June 2015 Air Race Classic, at which Brown and another female pilot plan to compete in a four-day race across the country in a Cessna 182.
