Beware of backup software….I just recently implemented WD Smartware Pro that came loaded on a new drive I purchased. It appears to write backup plans in two directions ….one being to your normal backup target drives…and the other to a destination on the net.

I feel this is happening, because, the resource on my CPU locks up when the program is running.

I adjusted my firewall permissions to block access of the program to an Internet connection. With that, the normal backup target drives are now functioning properly without locking up CPU resource.

Because it was taking up so much CPU resource, IMO, the software was writing to the net somewhere…. Offered/included with the software package is a cloud backup offering called DROPBOX of which I did not configure.

So pay attention to your firewall settings and backup applications trying to access the net.
