Longtime Apple attorney Larry Sonsini reacts to Steve Jobs' death

October 5, 2011 | 6:54 pm

Longtime Apple attorney Larry Sonsini called Steve Jobs "a true giant of industry" and said he was "very saddened" by his death.

Sonsini said he spoke with Jobs on the phone just last week.

"He was totally engaged as we discussed what was going on in the business world," Sonsini said.

Sonsini's firm, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, took Apple public in 1980.

As Sonsini prepared for the biggest such offering since Ford Motor Co. in 1956, Jobs told Sonsini that one day personal computers would be as common as bicycles.

Sonsini advised Jobs at every company he founded.

"What can I say: I represented him at Apple, NeXT, Pixar and Apple again," Sonsini said. "He was by far the most unique business person I have ever met. He embodied great vision, passion, commitment, creativity and leadership, combined with great judgment and business instincts. His contribution to society is well documented but his legacy will continue to make our industries better as others will learn from him for years to come."
