Christopher C. Bolten

Associate

Chris Bolten is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP. His practice focuses on patent prosecution, intellectual property litigation, and intellectual property licensing. Mr. Bolten advises clients in a number of fields, including medical devices such as ultrasound and X-ray imagers, neurostimulation systems, implantable mechanical devices, ablation devices, wound dressings, and medicine dispensers; telecommunications such as cellular and internet technologies; aerospace and defense technologies such as signal processing and optical systems; and automotive technologies such as battery systems. His practice also includes the preparation of noninfringement, invalidity, patentability, and freedom-to operate opinions. Mr. Bolten is experienced in representing a range of clients, from solo inventors and start-up companies to international corporations. He is a member of the Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies and IP Litigation Practices.
Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Bolten was an associate with Jones Day. He has also completed an externship with the Scottsdale City Attorney’s Office. Before practicing law, Mr. Bolten worked in the automotive sales and manufacturing industry.
Mr. Bolten earned his degree, magna cum laude, from Arizona State University (J.D., 2009). He graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University (B.S., 2005).
His publications include “In re Seagate Tech., L.L.C.: Is the Objective Recklessness Standard a Practical Change?”, 49 Jurimetrics J. 73-90 (2009).
Mr. Bolten is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
