Not sure I undertand "appeal" of his post but I look at it this way.
If person A gets a patent on a standard no frills mouse trap and person B adds an automatic cheese dispenser and claims the 1st patent as prior art, person B's invention is different.
LOL!!!
Look at how many patents there are of software that shuts off a smart phone at 10 MPH and that's basically all they do. NUNCHI has this feature as well.
