RE: the question to RP...
You can forward the question to RP....he understands very well the IP of WENCOR.
John you can do the same...
I`d be interested in the answer.....WENCORS defined interests are of self contained units not having to rely on head end equipment, however, that does not preclude the use of head end equipment. These self contained units have premium content approvals. APS when getting the approvals had to show the ground work(outline) for the devices....then test accordingly.
Any other IFE vendor seeking similar approvals for self contained....will have to present an outline....be it standard ingredients or proprietary.
Seeing what WENCOR has.. IMO.. it`s going to be hard for others not to infringe....Or it might be so broad it`s worthless and others will just implement in the same manner without any regard of their IP.
As self contained units unauthorized/authorized field technicians will not have access to any residual data...that may sit on a typical HDD implementations.
MSFT and Samsung are hot on that trail....When a company implements this process to a stand alone IFE device....will WENCOR have cause to call infringement?
That is where WENCORs arguement is...
