" based on a Flash OS/firmware"
data structure ......and I/O considerations that organize the data prior to writing to memory or reading from the memory.....saving all data and reading all data in a scaled fashion... one segment at a time...without the need of directive structures.
The memory is not important....
The only reason flash has a significance is, because of the problematic nature of flash in having to deal with... 1st the bad cells, 2 nd saving data under traditional OS considerations while having to do workarounds to make that happen, because Flash memory is not an over write memory and 3rd having to deal with the flash cycles of the the memory cells or cell life while trying to make #2 fit.
And they did all that, just so they could use flash memory no one(INTEL) else wanted....lol
e.Digital set out to make those problems non problems and ended up with something very diverse.
With that, they came up with a host of software/hardware issues, such as the selective power distribution for devices...etc to complement the package.
