This new technology is a hardware solution (self-healing) that supposedly extends the life of flash memory to a point where the read/write cycle limitation would effectively be eliminated (from 10,000 to 100 million cycles).

EDIG's software solution (wear-leveling) makes the most of the existing read/write
limitation by making sure that none of the memory blocks are over-used and that over time the entire memory will be cycled more or less evenly... thus extending flash memory life.

No doubt there is a better way to explain but essentially that's it.
