Handal & Associates announced today that it has filed new patent infringement lawsuits on behalf of its client, e.Digital Corporation (OTCQB: EDIG), in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
The three new lawsuits against SanDisk Corporation, Philips Electronics North America Corporation and Grundig Intermedia GmbH (Grundig) bring the total number of suits against makers and resellers of infringing products to six. Also named in the Grundig suit are two of Grundig's distributors, GBS North America L.L.C. dba Grundig Business Systems and Smoltz D(istributing, Inc.
In the complaints, e.Digital asserts that products made and sold by the defendants infringe the Company's U.S. patents covering the use of flash memory technologies, which are part of e.Digital's Flash-R(TM) patent portfolio.
"The process of identifying and confirming infringers is time consuming but we have been successful in identifying our client's technology and bringing infringers to e.Digital's attention," said Pamela Chalk of Handal & Associates. "In our view, e.Digital's patent portfolio is essential to many consumer electronics products that use flash memory. We expect that, as time goes on, we will continue to name additional infringers," Chalk added.

Sandisk's doing OK today....up 1.5%. The PR also appears in their news items.
I believe Philips is privately held and Grundg International (GmbH) is a form of business entity which limits personal liability, similar to our corporations.
