Hard to say, it comes down to this phrase.

If you have read the issues surrounding ...."a need", or "intentional purpose" with regard to preamble(introductory-introduction) language leading into a claim issue, with sited precedence relating to "a need"....it seems somewhat simple to me.

That which Gurries sites....the marking issues of bad memory segments....etc is simple enough to follow....it's technical....and we have been discussing it for years here.

The preamble language in getting from the specification to claim issues seems to be more a language puzzle.... where an intentional purpose can be identified in the claim.

If that be the case....kudos go to Thorpe, North & Western for understanding those issues.
