September 16, 2005 – EMBOLDENED perhaps by the promised inflight phone revival, US IFE content provider eFlyte has announced that it’s ready to come to market with another offering that looked like a good idea at the time - inflight gambling.
“Following a two-year development programme, we believe the time is right for inflight gambling,” says eFlyte chief executive David Morgan. “Our software is proven and the new generation of IFE platforms is compatible with it. We have the back-office support needed to assure efficient and reliable transaction processing. And a number of international airlines have expressed interest.”
eFlyte says its gambling software can be easily installed on the aircraft’s IFE system at no upfront cost. There will be strict player controls, with access by credit-card swipe. An integrated data tracking and financial management system will process credit-card transactions.
“The idea is to provide airline passengers with low-stakes gambling alongside the IFE system’s movies, audio tracks and games,” comments Morgan.
