Thing about virtual environments.....they are not fault tolerant.....One of e.Digitals highlights is its fault tolerance and not having to implement virtual files for data management issues.

e.Digitals tech very much functions on a physical environment....at least for that which we have come to appreciate regarding battery operated devices. There's very little data lose in the event of a fault.

When it comes to data that is always changing(telemetry) and not necessarily important data ....that's a different matter and it wouldn't be saved or handled on a CE device. I guess the importance of data would have to be considered in handling it and redundancies need to keep it alive..

For e.Digital and battery operated CE devices, it's a physical environment with a fast I/O to non -volatile memory for specific data.....Pushing other data to a network, whatever the environment, is anyone's guess as to e.Digitals involvement....IMO, it wouldn't be that important ......the CE device issues are more relevant as the, let say, I/O TOOL.

Thing about e.Digitals logical/physical environment regarding CE devices, it's portable and configurable to any OS attributes....for any data directly managed, or data in transition.
