Transatlantic low-cost MAXjet opts for digEplayer

September 2, 2005 – THE promised stream of new orders for the APS/Wencor digEplayer continues, with Washington DC-based start-up MAXjet announcing that it will use the handheld IFE device on its long-haul flights.

With a fleet of Boeing 767-200ERs, the carrier plans to launch low-fare scheduled transatlantic services between New York JFK and London Stansted later this year. Flights from other US East Coast cities to London are to follow, and the company holds US Department of Transportation approval to operate to other European countries, Canada and South America.

MAXjet plans also to offer charter capacity to tour companies and other airlines. For scheduled services the aircraft will have a two-class configuration. Charter customers will be able to choose between that and a single cabin with 217 economy seats at 32in pitch.
