Yesterday on CNN they reported that there are 127,000 National Guard troops available from neighboring states. Calling `em all up and sending them at this point would just add to the problems IMO. You`d end up with 100,000+ standing around waiting for the waters to go down, and have to support those troops with supplies that would be better directed to the victims. However, it does seem that some better planning could have been done to stage choppers and small vessels nearby, ready to roll.

As far as the blame game, there was plenty of warning and advice to flee that went unheeded. Then there were many years where the potential has been known, but not acted upon. Then there are the French, who put NO there in the first place. And then there`s Mother Nature.

The only thing that surprises me at this point is that Al-Quaida hasn`t claimed responsibility.

The whole thing is an incredible shame. Could be 50,000+ already dead.... Just hope and pray they can save as many of the threatened as possible.
